Botox
Botox is a cosmetic injectable wrinkle muscle relaxer. It contains Botulinum toxin type A, specifically Onabotulinumtoxin, to temporarily paralyse the muscle. This reduces the appearance of facial wrinkles.
A Botox treatment is minimally invasive. It is considered safe and effective for fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes. It can also be used in the forehead, and between the eyes. Botox can be useful for laugh lines and lip lines as well.
Botox, once injected, takes a few days for the results to be visible. However, the full result may take anywhere between 1 week and 2 weeks, so it is important to wait an adequate amount of time before seeking touch-up treatment.
Botox treatment is temporary and is expected to last 3–6 months, with average results beginning to wear off after 4 months. As with any treatment, the longevity of the results vary from patient to patient.
Fillers
Most visible signs of aging can be traced back to volume loss. As facial tissues thin out, lines become etched around the nose and mouth and cheek look a little hollow. Dermal fillers can replace the volume to help smooth wrinkles, plump lips and restore a more youthful appearance.
There are many kinds of dermal fillers in the market. It is thus important to go to an experienced cosmetic surgeon who can help you determine the right filler for your needs. Each product is uniquely formulated to have a certain texture, density and injection depth, which means that certain fillers work better for certain areas of concern.
Dermal fillers are a non-invasive procedure. Fillers are a temporary treatment that lasts for about 6 to 18 months. Injections to the lip will wear out a little faster than the nasolabial folds. Certain HA fillers, such as Voluma are formulated to last longer, but are usually limited to the cheek.
